Abstract
From an analysis of the intertextual links between Thesmophoriazusaeand Acharnians, Bacchae and Thesmophoriazusae, Frogs and Bacchae, the hypothesis is made of a competition of drama genres which, discussing the distinction between comedy and tragedy, sanctioned by the organization of drama competitions in Athens as well as by later philosophical tradition, would confront comic poet Aristophanes and tragic poet Euripides. The issue of this rivalry, which strongly implicates audience judgment, could be found again in a struggle for supremacy in the mastery of theatrical techniques, beyond the differences of dramatic genres.
