Abstract
L’articolo offre un’analisi del rapporto esistente fra il dramma per musica metastasiano e il dramma antico: di come tale rapporto fu concepito dallo stesso Metastasio, e di come esso fu variamente inteso da autori e critici coevi e delle età successive, in Italia e fuori d’Italia.
This paper aims to illustrate the relationship entertained by Metastasian dramma per musica with ancient drama – as it had been conceived by Metastasio himself, and variously interpreted by other authors and critics during his lifetime and beyond, both in Italy and abroad.
