Abstract
The functions of performances in fifth century Athens are related to the gradual rise of the actors’ role in society. The latter become professionals and establish themselves on the scene for their acting quality. With the new comedy a more acceptable balance between theatre and actor seems to emerge, that gives rise to a millenary tradition.
Le funzioni dell’antico spettacolo del V sec. ad Atene sono messe in relazione con la progressiva ascesa del ruolo dell’attore che diventa un professionista e si impone sulla scena per le proprie qualità. Con la commedia nuova tra teatro e attore sembra ristabilirsi un più accettabile equilibrio che dà origine ad una tradizione millenaria
