Abstract
Erotian, δ 7, attests the use of forms of διαβάλλω in Euripides’ Hippolytus Veiled (fr. 435 Kn.), Polyidus (fr. 646 Kn.) and Orestes. But in the text of this last tragedy the verb does not appear. Thus the third mention is considered fr. inc. fab. 859 Kn. But perhaps a stylistic and interpretative peculiarity of the Hippocratic lexicon can be recognized in the quotation: the verb would be explained by alluding to the derived noun διαβολή, that we can find in Euripides’ Andromache (l. 1005), in which Orestes is a character.

Tuttavia, nel testo di quest’ultima tragedia il termine non compare. La terza menzione è dunque annoverata come fr. inc. fab. 859 Kn. Ma nella citazione può forse ravvisarsi una peculiarità stilistica ed interpretativa del lessico ippocratico: il verbo sarebbe spiegato alludendo al sostantivo derivato διαβολή, presente in un’altra tragedia di Euripide, l’Andromaca (1005), in cui Oreste è personaggio.
